For the past couple of months I've been battling respiratory problems with three different heifers. One didn't respond to the antibiotics and I lost her. Thankfully, the other two seem to be almost over it. The other problem is with their hooves. Both heifers have split front hooves and they are not walking so well. Got them both in a smaller lot restricting movement. Doc blames both problems on this hard dusty ground we have and told me today that locals are losing many cows to summer pneumonia. Better keep the antibiotics close at hand and be on top of it.
