If a cow is consuming straw that has been coated with a molasses/urea product which ingredient would be digested by the rumen microbed first; mollasses or straw? and why This a question for my livestock nutrition coarse at college and I cant seem to find any were to find out about it.

I would say the molasses would start to digest first because of the sugars, and straw digests rather slowly. However Urea is considered by-pass protien that passes through the rumen and digests farther along the line.

Try using a search on by-pass protien and see if that helps answer your question.
