My wife was out with the camera today so thought I'd share some pics of the calves. Just mongrels but doing well.

Really nice bunch.. lets see some of those twins!

One of mine on the manure pile.. a promising heifer... I'm cautiously optimistic with her, I haven't kept any from that cow yet

Looks like a great calf to me!

All the extra twins have been either sold or grafted except for one still with it's mom in case we have need.

This one born this morning, would look good beside that 58D calf. So now I have 12 steer calves and 6 heifers, 5 left to go... Of those 6 heifers, one is from a first timer I don't like and is getting culled, another is a freemartin (most likely, she's a twin to a bull), and another is from a cow that's 12 years old and can't make a decent heifer to save her life.. they all turn out skinny.. so my choices are pretty slim for replacements

here's the pic. .*duh*

Yup, that calf would fit right in the bunch here.

On a side note, I thought it was interesting anyway, in the fourth picture from the top you can if you look at the cows tag and know that her calf is a heifer you can tell that the calf is a heifer from a heifer out of a heifer. I like to see that.

I'm not big enough to have ID problems.. they get their final tag right from the start... I don't even bother tagging the steers, though they do get their CCID button.. Heifers get the full tag and the button
