Last year we had the same problem, we started using 14% supplement tubs. They will eat the first couple as if they're candy, then slow down to a more normal intake. If your pasture is pretty much dried up and has quit growing start with the hay now also. When grass gets shorter then about three inches, some as short as two inches the cows can't eat as efficiently. If it gets too short you will be stealing from next years growth by weakening the plants.
