Mineral feeder

Help Support CattleToday:

I would say 1 feeder to every 15 to 20. Size is optional. Me I like to hgave one that will at least hold a whole sack of mineral and will be easy to clean out. On large pastures you may want to have one or so many for every watering hole.

To elaborate, I was thinking in terms of the covered wooden type feeders that you drag from pasture to pasture and the number or size it would take to minimize competition among the herd. Also, I'm wondering how often folks are having to put out mineral.

Thanks in advance for the responses.

For me anyways it is seasnoal on the total pounds out and consumed. I would guesse about 3-5 ounces a day during fall and 3 maybe during summer. All depends on your pasture and if you are feeding supplements.
