Millet hay help

Not very familiar with millet hay & had some questions. I have alfalfa hay left over from last year that has been covered & still high quality. I need to get more hay for the winter & the neighbor has some millet hay I was considering. Would I be alright to free feed the millet & then supplement feed with the alfalfa?

Your answer depends on the quality of the millet and the nutritional needs of your animals. Have the hay tested and go from their.

Which Millet? If Foxtail, my cows would graze if it was young and tender and they had nothing else to eat. On bales forget it with them. Only experience I know of.

Never a cow starved off either one of those grasses.
