milk replacer cost?

How much is milk replacer in your area and what is you area?
Bought some Cargill the other day $48 for 25# bag...
Some Multi Mama for $35 for a 25# bag...

The last I bought was about $46 for 50lbs. That is taking a ton at a time.

The last time I bought milk replacer, it was a dollar/pound and that was for the soy/milk mix.

What kind of milk replacer? 20/20? I paid $58 for 50 pounders the other day. This is a 26/20 replacer. I found the calves do much better on the higher protein replacers. I don't think I will ever go back to a 20/20.

20:20 works fine for late spting and summer calves but for winter and early spring the higher protein pays for itself

In my part of Va. a 50 lb bag of Cow's Match (Land-O-Lakes) 20/20, no soy is $62.00 (including tax). 25 lb. bag of Calf Maker (Carnation) is close to $40.00.

50 lb bag of starter feed will run about $15.00 per bag.

With these prices, its next to impossible to break even on a bottle baby.
Having a nurse cow is less expensive.
