Hello! I've been feeding MGA to my feedlot cattle. I'm planning on pulling a few Heifers out for Breeding. Does a prolong feeding of MGA effect fertilty??

Just attended a session with the state vet on synchronization. MGA was one of the method discussed. The recommendations are that any heat expressed within the first week of removal from the MGA not be bred because of reduced fertility, it was specified that this applies to both AI or natural service

Melengestrol acetate, a orally active progestin. When fed on a daily bases, suppress estrus and prevents ovulation

> dunmovin farms Thank you. I understand your point. I've been told another reference after MGA withdraw is "silent heat". My question is feeding MGA to feedlot cattle for a prolong period detrimental. I start feeding them MGS around 550lbs and pull the Heifers out for breeding @950lbs. My concern is withholding them from cycling that long might effect Fertility down the road. Thank you for any help!
