Mexican Buzzards

Help Support CattleToday:

We have lots of buzzards up here. They arrive about mid March. Always hanging around the cows, they try to get the placenta. Funny, I saw my first buzzard about ten years ago, now their so common I see groups daily, most of the time all day long.

You folks down South are slipping, Those buzzards shouldn't be making it up this far. ;-)

Mexican buzzards also have white on the leading edges of their wings. This makes them very recognizable when they are hovering.

Once again I learned something.

Heck you live way away from them. I wouldn't expect you to know about them. We are living amongst them and seeing pictures in the feed stores of cows, calves, and even a bull who have had eyes gouged. I have never had one of my animals hit but I know some folks who have.
