So far, I don't see anyone that has touched on how and when or why Memorial Day celebration started.

Sure hope this doesn't discourage anyone from celebrating this holiday in the future.

I would not have guessed the origins in a 1000 years. It causes me no discouragement.

It's the ones who went to a foreign land to serve their country and never got to step foot on their homeland again
that we should be remembering on memorial day.
They gave the ultimate sacrifice.
