Howdy all,

One of my longhorn heifer stepped in / on something yesterday and scraped up her left front leg just above the hoof. I haven't put her through the chute yet to see how bad it is - last night viewing with a flash light from a short distance, it looked like a real bad abrasion. Today, it looks really swollen.

What can i / should i give her? LA200, penicillin - what about bute for the swelling?

Thanks all

I would not use bute on a preg. heifer. Just went thru the same thing on some second calf cows. Give LA 200 and treat the exterior wound with iodine solution daily or every other day. No need to soak the exterior wound, Just good coverage. If I am wrong V the V will set it straight, but that is what I personally do and it is safe.
