Can someone explain reports to me? Small,medium, and large does this mean the size of the cattle? 1,2, and 3 does this mean how much meat?

Does this mean a certain breed for example Hereford's typically fall as a medium 2. Simmental typically large 1 just on genetic's.

Not necesarrily. There are larege framed heavy muscled Herefords and medium framed light muscled Simmenthals. The only thingthat's pretty consistant by breeds is that dairy calves and a lot of their crosses will be #3 or very low #2s. A hgiher #2 will bring more then a lower #2

Thanks for the help. If you take a steer to auction can you set a min. bid ? Do you have to take whatever they can get for it?Also how much do they charge for the sale?

It depends on the salebarn. If it no sales you still have to pay a minimum or a commision
