Autry, an expert marksman, was chosen by his company to eliminate Antonio López de Santa Anna, who often walked across the grounds near the Mexican battle lines. He missed. After a siege lasting 13 days, Autry was killed with the rest of the Alamo garrison after the Mexican army stormed it on March 6, 1836

A few hours ago the 178th anniversary of the fall of the Alamo took place.
People who forget their history will eventually cease to exist.

I've been there three times and can't help but feel it would be great to show up back in time with a wagon load of Winchesters and ammo. Or a few M1A1's.

The Mexicans would have never taken it if both sides had Winchesters.
They didn't have enough men to cover the open ground.
If you go back and look at old pictures the country looked a lot different.
