Manure speader

There is a 275 bushel Meyer spreader for sale near here for $800. Owner claims it's in good shape, 540 pto. He doesn't know the model. Opinions on Meyer spreaders? Will a 100 hp tractor handle it? My biggest tractor is also my loader tractor and I would hate to load with my old M. thanks farmguy

Meyers are good spreaders, I rent one each spring. It's a vertical beater and it does a better job with pen pack than my side discharge. You should have no trouble with 100 horsepower, 275 bushels is not that big of spreader. $800 seems awful cheap, I would expect trouble.
