Mange mites on Rover

Ivermectin is a medication used on dogs for heart worms. My dogs have decided that possum hunting with an occasional coon thrown in is their new hobby. I noticed two days ago, that they are scratching like crazy with a spot of hair missing. I put Bio-Spot on them for the fleas and ticks. I dosed them again with the Bio-Spot, but the itch is still there. I read where Eprinex kills mange mites on cattle. I have put pour on Ivermectin on dogs before without any problems. I wonder if anyone has ever used the Eprinex for mange mites on dogs. I think the coon that they got the other day gave them something that they could remember him by. Anyone out there had any luck with this procedure?

Never have used this before, but my dad use to put some kind of sulphur mixture on his hunting dogs to cure the mange. It would turn the dogs blue for a couple of days, but the mange would be gone. I'm not for sure what else he put in it to get the blue tint.

Thanks Greenwillow! Today, she was doused with Sevin dust, Bio-Spot and Eprinex. Sulfar will be the last line of defense. Every time I deal with sulfur, I get it on my skin and have that odor for a day or so.

you have to be really really really careful using ivermectin on dogs. our vet told us that you can easily kill a dog by giving it ivermectin. (heart worm treatments are gradual and several treatments). i assume b/c killing all the worms at once could cause heart failure and/or blockages. anyway, ii forgot the reasoning behind this but he said that german shepherds and collies were particularly negatively affected by ivermectin.
