What do you see as your best management tool on your farm (or the farm you work at)? Either literal tool or a practice that you use.

Instinct -
a natural or innate impulse, inclination, or tendency.
a natural intuitive power.

and intuition -
a keen and quick insight.

Planning ahead, a peice of paper and a pencil, lots of thinking (i.e. intuition), and gut feelings are about as good a management tool I can have.

business pland and record keeping. Helps me keep track of what my break evens are so I can better price my hay and beef and know what I cannot spend money on and what is worth to spend money on.
