About to make a wooden 6'x8' portable covered hay feeder on skids. Which would be easier to pull along the ground, 4x6 skids, or 6x6? I would think less ground contact(3.5" vs 5.5") would be better, or is it the other way around?

Do you have a way to move it when it gets bogged down in mud? My opinion is the wider skids will pull easier than the narrow.

Will be pulling with tractor, no access to grader blades, thanks for advice.

Show us a picture when you get this complete. Where did you get the plans? Interested myself in something of this nature.

You will need a gate on both ends. If not when you get ready to move it the fines will bank up unless you only pull from closed end . these feeders need room around it to load and maneuver.
