New to the boards. Just curious what your thoughts are on the breed. I have one that just calved a nice little heifer, but I'm not sure I want to stay with her. Haven't really put a pencil to it, but I'm guessing she'll go through 1/3 again as much feed over the upcoming winter as the others and raise a similar calf. Just starting in the business so all opinions are welcome.

A buddy of mine at church raises these and he loves them. The only complaint he has with the breed is their birthweight. He doesn't worry about it too much though since he doesn't keep a large herd and his wife is quite the cattlewoman and always home.

Thanks for the reply. The birth weight on her little heifer wasn't a problem, but would guess that has more to do with the sire.
