I've heard that Maine-Anjou cattle have a gestation period of only 8 months Is this true?

No It's not true. All cattle have a roughly 40 week gestation (280) days. Some breeds are a little sooner, usually the easier calving ones, and some breeds are a little later. By a little I mean 10 days either way.

Maines are considered a larger birth weight breed and will be just over 280 days on the average.
