How soon after a cow has been breed can you give lut to abort her? I was thinking five days but I can't remember thanks.

7-8 days. Lute may or may not work at 5 days past heat, depending on the cow. I'd give it a minimum of a week.

If I remember correctly from Bovine Reproductive Technology ANSCI 505, 7 days. It isn't going to hurt anything waiting an extra day or two, however.

i always heard between 3 weeks to 3 months to lute. my vet told me 2 years ago, neighbors knotty bull bred my cow between calving seasons.
