We had a storm just before dark today, not nearly as bad as some of you have had, and a power line fell in the 4 acre pasture where I have 9 heifers that are calving. I had put them there so they could be seen day or night. Safest place on the farm I thought. By the time I got there they were all gathered around the wire smelling it. Good thing the line was dead. Good luck this year. 14 calves so far and no problems but this could have really been bad.

sometimes the safest place for cattle is out in the big pasture.your very lucky you didnt loose a heifer or 2.

Another heifer calved during the night. Storm must have scared it out of her. Up and sucking when I checked them this morning.
