Looks like a lot of Texas is going to get wet next week..

Help Support CattleToday:

We were waving it in to STX and out if Mexico. Now it looks like it's going to pass us up and go Houston or up that way. It's not a big rain maker like the last one either. Looks like if you are not right under it you won't get much.

We need it for sure. I drove from Groveton to Gonzalez yesterday and back today. Everybody appears to have the first cutting complete. Seen some guys slinging fertilizer along the way in anticipation of some rain.

We need it. Ranching in Texas your always 30 days from a drought. The heat just zaps everything. Young friend of mine got into the hay baling biz this year and has been awful nervous. Too much rain to cut then the faucet shut off. This will help if we get it.

If yall down there can "steer" it a lil to the east of the Mississippi, I would accept as much as you can afford to send.

We just got back from fishing in our biggest pool and checking cows. The pool was too choppy to use the paddle boat and it was really dusty checking the cattle. It's amazing that a storm 400-500 miles away can cause the wind to blow like it is and cool things off like so much.

We didn't get a drop out if the hurricane but got 3" out if a band in the evening two evenings ago. There are showers all around us. We have probably gotten another inch or so since the 3. It's been a big relief. Tanks are full and the grass is going crazy. Even got a little relief from the high temps.

The hurricane gave us a much needed inch of rain a couple of days ago. Similar to Lucky, we're always two weeks away from a drought in row crop country. Thin topsoils here for the most part, lots of clay that doesn't hold moisture well.

The farmers here were combining day and night trying to get corn in before the storm then it went past us.

I'd guess we got an 1" or maybe a little more. The sun popped out and dried it right up though. Was hoping for 2-3 days of relief but didn't happen. We'll take whatever rain we can get in July in August.

Triple digit temps supposed to return here next week with little to no chance of rain forecast...
Not looking forward to it.

Our weather has been great since the remnants of Beryl came through. 60s at night and upper 80s daytime.
My son lives in Cut and Shoot and they are still without power.
