Longhorn gestation

I am new at raising longhorns and would like to know how long the gestation period is, and how soon after they have calf, do they come into estress?

The average gestation period for cattle is 283 days. Some breeds don't take so long, others take longer a few days longer. Several things affect how soon she cycles after calving. If she is a first calf heifer, she may take longer to cycle than a mature cow, if she's in poor body condition, if she had a difficult time having the calf. So it's hard to say how long before she cycles. Generally, we like to see our cows cycling 35-45 days after they calve.
