Longhorn cow calved

Found this pair this morning. This is the cow in my avatar, bought her as a 400 lb heifer. This is her 3rd calf and it's by our home raised crossbred bull.

The bull is 3/4 Angus, so that is likely why we are getting more solid black calves from him from non Hereford cows.

Great looking pair! LHs can be a little more work when it comes time for chute work, but damn they make good mommas! I have never had one, or known of anyone else's, that had any trouble calving as heifers, always plenty of milk, heat tolerant as well as cold tolerant.. I'd take a pasture full of pairs like yours in this pic.
