Loading a Lame Cow ?

Got a butcher with a bad front foot. Not sure she will hop up into a trailer. Any tips to make it easier for her?

We built a ramp out of old 2x8's and attached a heavy duty ratchet strap to the trailer and around her behind. Slow going but she made it. And pooped all over the strap.

Or find a low spot, even dig one out with the bucket of your tractor/loader.

Not ideal but you could let the air out of the back tires.

Hard surface where we load, but lower trailer tires and higher truck tires should help.

Do you guys have mobile butchers over there? We have guys with coolroom trailers who will come, slaughter and a week later process animals on your property.

The worse problem may be getting her off at the butcher without her falling and not being able to get up.

If you have access to a hog cart with a hydraulic lift, you could raise it up level with the back of the trailer.
I agree with Bird dog, I would be much more concerned about how she unloads at the plant.

Scoop of breeding pack, scoop of corn, and a couple oak planks got r done. Put new batteries in the prod but did not need it.
