Anyone else seeing used livestock trailers bringing an insane amount of money lately? Been looking to find a used aluminum stock trailer for a couple years, more seriously in the past 18 months and seems they bring more now then they did new. Watched an 07 24 foot Wilson, tough shape, mis-matched rims, single gate go for$17,500 at auction, owner said he paid $12,000 when it was new. Watched an 02 4Star, 24 foot, two dividers, nice shape but 20 years old go for $21,700.00. From I can find, went for around 10,000 when it was new. Currently if you can find one or get in line, a new Wilson, 2 dividers goes for around $29-30,000.00. Seems used are hard to find, when you do they're either shot or priced closed to new.

Must be like everything else. Ford dealership called and offered what we paid for my truck, a '16 F250 Platinum. Didn't do it because I'd end up paying twice that for a new one and have to wait until next year to get it.

Good luck finding one!

I bought my new 20 ft. Wilson in 2013. Back then a 20 year old one was selling for just a couple thousand less than new. And that more then those trailers cost new. So this has been going on for a while.

We had been looking for a few years as well. Rarely saw them for sale anywhere close enough to make it worth the trip. Prices were pretty high for used in rough condition. We finally ordered a brand new one. By the time it arrived the dealer said it was worth thousands more even after driving it off the lot. Don't see that changing anytime soon. Even our flatbed trailer is worth thousands more than we paid for it new a few years ago. It's not just stock trailers that are high for used.

Been looking a few years as well. Just decided to keep using the trailer I have and spend my money on improving my cattle. I know one day I'll have to break down and buy one.

I've been paying attention to the market. Seems like most used 24' ones that are from 2000-2015 or so go for around $20k. I thought the poorer conditioned ones were closer to $12k.

Went thru it this spring. Dealer had a used 24' EBY for 20k that showed its use. He sold the trailer new in 2007 for 12.5k gave the guy 19k in trade towards his new one and the used one sold in 24 hours.

I ordered a new 24' EBY for 27.5k only to be called back that the price went up 3k bucks. So I canceled that and ordered a 24' wilson with 2 gates for 27.5k and took delivery. Since then the dealer i bought from and 2 others I've talked to about other things have offered me 30k for it.

I figured the jump to new ment I wouldn't spend 20k on a 15yo used one then have to do brakes, bearings, tires, wiring, lights, etc.

New cattle trailers have been holding their value for the last 6-7 years. When steel prices doubled and new trailers went up so did the price of used ones.

I had an old Morgan built steel trailer. Western Washington steady rains are not easy on steel trailers. And it was a real stone boat to pull. When I picked up my Wilson all the way home I kept looking in the rear view mirro. Is it still back there? It didn't feel like I was towing anything.
I keep thinking that as well. This is our first aluminum trailer. Always had steel trailers. Definitely taking some getting used to.

Picked this little gem and title up for $700 replaced the floors the tires and put a new set of lights on it I figure it's worth $35,000 in todays market….. well ok maybe $34,999.99
