Soil sample called for 30lbs. N after each graze down this season. Is the liquid nitrogen worthwhile. It would be a lot easier for us to do that but, is it the same as the granular in "greening things up?" thanks

the short answer is that no, it is not the same. Liquid N would be used for side dressing corn, knifing it in to keep it from volatializing. Also if you need to put on 30 lb.s per acre of N, that would be alot of liquid N. If you are putting on triple 19 fertilizer you would have to put on 200 lb.s of it to get your 30 lb.s per acre, if you putting on 60-0-0 than 100 lb.s would be 60 lb.s of actual N. Liquid fertilizer would have to have to be put on based on the percent of it that is actual N, there would be no difference just because it is liquid, that is why liquid ferts. are mainly for side dressing and used for planting and not as economical as granular for putting on pastures.

You would only need to use 8.5 gallons per acre of 32/0/0 liguid fertilizerto get your 30 lbs of actual Nitrogen. Just to give you an idea on how easy it would be to apply it here is an example If you have ever have sprayed 2-4-d on your pasture you used more water per acre than you would use 32/0/0 per acre, You can use the same equipment to apply the nitrogen as you do the 2-4-d. We use 32/0/0 inplace of water in all of our preplant chemical applications and most of our post planting chemical applications. I think the previous person was thinking of 82/0/0 anhydrous ammonia that would need to be knifed in to keep it from volatializing.
32/0/0 can be applied on top of vegitation without losing nutrient value. It might turn your grass brown but it should come out of it our row crops do.
