limousin cattle

Help Support CattleToday:

thats what we have --and I know very little about calving problems.
calves seem to be lively and not very big when their born---seem to be fairly tough too --and remember it gets to 40 below here in the winter time

it really really just depends. some are easy calving, some are not at all easy calving. definitely do your homework.

As far as i know our family hasnt had many problems over the years. The only thing that really kills calves here is scours.

We AI'd to a high BW lim this season, just tho older baldy cows and the lim cow. Seems to me like the lims have long narrow heads when born...I'd really watch the birth weight EPD's and note the actuals. 100lb calves are not uncommon.
Just my two bits worth....DMc
