Lime is costing $42.00/tn plus $6.50/acre to spread in South Georgia. ANy idea on how to reduce that cost?

the only sure way i know to reduce the cost is to quit liming.
 
For anyone that has a power plant near that uses wood products as fuel, the wood ash can be used instead of lime and can sometimes be gotten for free. The plant has to get rid of the waste so they pay someone to spread it on the farmland instead of hauling it to the landfills. About 2 ton equals 1 ton of lime. You get a little fertilizer value from it also.

Some crops require a lot less ph than others. Low input graziers here use white clover instead of red clover or alfalfa...
