We had some storms roll thru today. And the lightning was bad, the cows came out of woods in the pasture when it started and then came up to the barn under some small trees when it got rough. I stepped out side and was watching it rain and I heard a sizzle and the house shook . The cows immediately headed back to the open field. I have not found the tree Here yet and the cows are fine. It passed and I was finishing supper and and my mil called and said they had no power. Its about 3 miles and I got there the phone box on the house was in a hundred pieces and the plug the answering machine was plugged into was blown apart. I checked everything and the main was tripped. I reset it and checked everything again and everything was ok. I was leaving and noticed this tree. They got lucky.

The ground was even torn up from it.

It is falling out of the sky right now here.
We have had some good ones here in the last couple weeks.
One blew the lighting arrestor on the pole and another kicked the
mains on the house, barn and old place.

Got a little thunder and a bunch of rain today. Hope all the animals are alright

You should take a probe and poke around in the dirt and see if you can't find some fulgurite aka petrified lightning. You might get lucky and find a big one.
