Does anyone here lease land by the head per month? The place I'm going to get started, the guy charges $12.50 per month, per head. Is that a standard way of leasing? Seems pretty good for a guy like me who only wants to start out with 3-4 head.

Check with your local extension office, they'll know what the going rate is.
Around here it runs 7-12 per head, calves at the lower, bigger stuff at the higher, pairs depends on the calf size but about 1 /2 times the rate. The catch is, that's dependent on the uality of the pasture also, if water is supplied, etc.

what do you mean by supervised? He lives on the property, but hes not gonna check my cows.

Thats what I was meaning. If he was going to watch out for them.Then your rent could be higher.
