why is it that a few cows always breed the last day the bull is turned out I think Murphy plays in my pastures have 5 left to calve and haven't had a calf in 2 wks always seems to be some holdouts

Wow they have just started here.

usually start calving between the 15th and 20th of August try to be done by Nov.1st

Brother's fall herd is the same way. He has a few left to calve, and swears one in particular is open. I pregged them back in April and said he would have a few late ones. He wanted me to preg her again, and sure enough, she's still bred.

I think if you have a 45, 60, 75, or 90 day calving period, there will always be a cow get bred on the last day.

Your 4 and my 10 girls are getting a good giggle...

...it'll happen this week, I hear we may get a light sprinkle of rain on Thursday (our first actual measurable rain since March!) - if that actually does happens and makes a big ole muddy mess... THAT will be the precise day that they choose to calve for me... all 10!
