Just thought I would update everyone that helped with advice on the sale. They held the auction and the 42 acres sold for 65,000. That was more than I wanted to give for it, given that it was virtually worthless for cattle grazing and the house was falling in, and it was 70 percent inaccessible by 4 wheel drive truck. They produced papers that said the asbestos had been dug up and destroyed, although it just said asbestos had been destroyed, but there was no way to prove it came from that farm. However, by doing that, they assumed the liability in case there is some still there and there is some on almost every farm from old buildings or shingles or sidings. Thanks for the input, everyone
