I have a 3 week old beef calf with a swollen front knee that won't walk on. She gets up to nurse, but lays down the rest of the time. Birth was very long and only one foot present with head. Not sure if leg was injured during birth or if an infection is present. How can I tell if it happened at birth or is infection? Thank you

Wow, sounds almost like the exact same birth my beef calf had. He took a long birth and had only one leg up also. He never stood though until he was 3 days old. By then his momma wouldn't take him. He also has a slightly larger knee. He drags it just a little bit too but he is fine other then that. I would think that is probably just an injured leg at birth, but you might want to check up with your vet.
