Can it be drilled into an existing grass, or does it need to go in a seed bed?

Not sure what variety as it's been several years but I believe that was it that we sowed in existing pasture. I think it was an annual that came up in late summer when the fescue went dormant.

Sounds like it. They put this on reclaimed mine ground. Supposed to do well on poor soils.

We have it on hillsides where clover doesn't grow. It's been there since my grandfather sowed it decades ago. Really good stuff. Cows love it.

I always just broadcast/frost-seeded it in late winter. Got good stands. It's not a world-beater, production-wise, but it really shines here in late July/Aug/early Sept when clovers & fescue are taking a siesta from the heat.
Planted 'Marion' in 1998... it was a lifesaver, and reseeded well in spite of heavy (bordering on over-) grazing.

I wasn't even considering it, back when frost seeding would have worked. I'm wondering if it could be drilled in. Is it small like I'd need a brillion seeder, or large enough for southern states no til drill.

Earlier would have been better, but I've broadcast annual lespedeza seed in mid-April, let the cows tread it in, and got decent stands.
It's larger than clover/timothy seed, but smaller than wheat. I have no doubt you could drill it in. I know nothing about a Brillion, but suspect the Tye &/or Great Plains no-till drills at SS would work
