Sounds like it. They put this on reclaimed mine ground. Supposed to do well on poor soils.Not sure what variety as it's been several years but I believe that was it that we sowed in existing pasture. I think it was an annual that came up in late summer when the fescue went dormant.
I wasn't even considering it, back when frost seeding would have worked. I'm wondering if it could be drilled in. Is it small like I'd need a brillion seeder, or large enough for southern states no til drill.I always just broadcast/frost-seeded it in late winter. Got good stands. It's not a world-beater, production-wise, but it really shines here in late July/Aug/early Sept when clovers & fescue are taking a siesta from the heat.
Planted 'Marion' in 1998... it was a lifesaver, and reseeded well in spite of heavy (bordering on over-) grazing.
