The guy I bought my 89 F350, 7.3, said occasionaly he ran a little kerosene in the tank. Are there any benefits or harm in doing that?

Kerosene is very close in composition to number 1 diesel it has less lubrication than number 2 diesel the only reason I can see a person from a warmer area such as Mississippi using kerosene would be to defraud the federal and state governments out of tax dollars. Kerosene carries no motor fuel taxes.

For the price of kerosene here that wouldn't be profitable as the cost is higher than diesel. The previous owner did a lot of northern driving so maybe that was the reason. Just wondering, not trying to beat anyone especially the gov.

If he drove up north alot he probably did it to keep the fuel from gelling up.
