History channel has a program going about JFK being killed in Dallas.. It's amazing the difference in reporting then and now. Everybody wore hats,lots of smoking..No cameras/phones in every hand.. Rebel flags,handcards .. Odd to watch now and remember then.
I was 18/19.. An absolute shock.
Then Oswald being shot in police custody later..Amazing..And to watch how they handled the rifle and other evidence!
Are you old enough to remember this?

Yep, I remember well. I was on my way to my Abnormal Psychology class at North Texas State University when JFK was assassinated. Created an interesting class discussion for the 50 minute class.

Don't ever know if anyone will figure out if Oswald acted alone, part of a conspiracy, or if he was just a scapegoat for some other assassin. However, Jack Ruby (nightclub owner in downtown Dallas) was one of the "boys" that associated with Dallas Police (or had one or more of them in his pocket...lol). Otherwise, Ruby wouldn't have been in the group of officers that were escorting Oswald to jail. I think Ruby said before he shot Oswald, "You shot my President!!".

IMO, it wouldn't surprise me if the CIA, FBI, or some offshoot group or someone didn't contract the hit since JFK was a young liberal [with megabucks behind him by the Kennedy clan] who was beginning to "threaten" or "rock the boat" among some of the conservatives of that era.

I think they still think there was a second gunman on the grassy knoll (jack ruby). Thats why he kilt oswald cuz he knew oswald would squeal he was the second shooter.

The way they were handeling evidence~ they kept parading Oswald up and down the halls with everybody and their brother there. Talking him to the armored car without a vest(they did have those then?) So many mistakes.. so many theorys...

On my way to organic when someone leaned out a window and told me. At first I thought it was a joke.
In lecture my buddy was a nice, quiet guy from Texas (I know, seems to be an oxymoron).
Yankee professor comes in and starts in about how terrible it was that some ignorant Texan shot Kennedy.
(At that time nobody knew who shot him, and still don't.)

As the professor continued his bigoted tirade, my buddy began to start fidgeting and tensing up.
When he chose to no longer keep quiet and suffer the indignities heaped on the South in general and Texans specifically, ...well, I'll just say the "fun" began. :shock:

There was no organic lecture that day.

I was probably in school at the time I was 9 and didn't take much notice of it. Remember seeing it on TV on the NEWS but that's about it.

Was at a deal at the Hilton in downtown Fort Worth a few weeks ago and they have a lot of historical information on the assasination hanging on the walls. JFK stayed there the night before and gave his final speech in the ballroom of the Hilton the morning before the assasination. Seems odd that it was over 40 years ago. Doesn't seem like it was that long ago.
