Do you have a Jersey now, or are you considering getting one? In th old day's, my grandparents raised beef cattle, with minor Jerseys influence. I raise beef cattle with Holstein influence. I also enjoy being able to have fresh milk for homestead use. However, I am not milking my Hereford/Holstein cross right now, even though she is fresh. I am milking two LaManch Dairy goats and getting way more than we can use for ourselves and our dogs and my family in Houston.
When I was a child, my grandmother taught me to milk on a Jersey and on a Jersey/Hereford. I believe dairy cows to be the sweetest natured and most personable of all.
