Jerry Hubbard died Monday. When he first started, that was the name he used, then he changed it and used his middle name and dropped th last name. One of the all-time great guitar players, Jerry Reed.

They played three or four of his songs in a row this morning on the way to work, that explains it. I love AM radio.

I hear just one little piece on the local radio yesterday that he had died, I had to double check to make sure I had heard it right. He haadn;t done anything new in a while, but the old stuff he did is still classic, particularly some of the guitar work.
Chet Atkins once said that "Jerry Reed could get music out of a guitar that wasn;t in it". Pretty tall praise from the likes of Chet Atkins

Amen to that.

I believe it was when Jerry was invited to Graceland to sing "US Male" for Elvis that he was amazed at how good looking a guy Elvis was. He said that next to Elvis he felt like he was "born wrong or something." 8)

There has been a lot of the music makers of my area gone to push up green in the last year or so. We still have Loretta. Every morning I thank God that I have an extra day to miss them all.

I've been ignoring this thread because for some reason I thought it was about some scientology weirdo. My mistake.

Read about Jerry Reed passing on MSN homepage a day or two ago. Excellent musician and I loved his brand of humor. Remember his song called "Don't Smoke"? :lol2:

I just saw two days ago he had passed. :( :cry2: A true country legend, and i might be 19 but Smokey and the Bandit was and will always be one of my favorite movie's.
