Bought and fixed up a John Deere 400 feed mill on an auction. It has the 1000 rpm yoke on the pto shaft, but everyone I talk to says they didn't know JD made those for 1000 pto.
Any guesses as to whether it is 1000 or if someone just put a different yoke on and ran the tractor slower?
Seems to grind ok with an adapter at 540, just not as fine a grind as I'm used to

IDK, but I would think the fineness of the grind would be in your screen size.....

I agree. Have also heard of guys running them slower to crack the corn more than grind it, just got me thinking is all. Thanks for the replies

I believe you hit the nail on the head. We did that many years ago. It wasn't on a JD though... otherwise I'd say...
Hey I think you might have bought my old feed mill.
