JD 5085e 540 pro / 1000 pro wing cutter

Hello , new on here

I've got a 2015 5085e and I just bought a 1000 rpm woods 15' cutter . I had a older 15' woods cutter ( 540 rpm )
What's my options , i plan on a lot of use with this cutter . I got a good deal on it , I'm keeping it do what my options to make it work as it should .

Can't say for sure, but the central gearbox is probably what will need to be changed. I'd think the blade boxes are the same between a 540 and 1000.

You may get lucky and only need to replace a couple gears.

I'd check the parts diagrams for both mowers and see what part numbers are the same for the main gearbox. Then see if the housings are the same, and check if the shafts or gears can be swapped.

If possible id switch the tractor to 1000 rpm pto. The 1000rpm pto shaft can transmit more torque and takes less abuse.

That is what I have, not the 540 -1000 option. I never use it. You are correct, it lowers the RPMs of the engine not the PTO.

My 5083E is 2012. How do you like yours? I wish I had something just a bit bigger in HP and weight.

I've got a 93E and it's the same deal. For the small brush hog and spraying I use the economy for the bat wing, and haying I use the regular

I have a 5100e and use the economy pto to cut hay and round bale.
