Dave, tell me what the difference is between chips and french fries. We have always called them chips as in "fish n chips". When McDonalds came along in the 70's and Americanised us, people started calling them french fries as that was what they were called on the menu.

The English are big on their fish n chips.

Yep Jeanne and you tore the end out of the packet and ate them that way. It kept them hot for longer. I can't stand the cardboard and styrofoam packs they have now.

So did I! But I had to finally quit asking for chips with my burger because like Ken said, we got Americanized. Oh well, they still ask if we want gravy on our fries

Point taken. They serve the hamburger with potato chips as like the Lay's which come in a bag. The french fries (like fish and chips) cost extra and my wife doesn't really care for them much.
