My grandfather had radical surgery on his prostrate, coming up 12 mths ago now. All of the test results come back says he's cancer free which is great.
There are some things I don't need to know about my parents, grandfather ect its like fingers poked in ears singing lalalalalala trying to drown out the words but yes he can still :heart: :heart: :cowboy: :drink: so to say :secret:

Even tho it was a very painful surgery my Dad did very well and was cancer free after his surgery and all of his pieces parts worked fine after according to him and Mom..... :?

Yes there is - I know because I accidently walked into the living room in my grand parents house one day - I was there visiting for the week - and they were doing it on the couch!

After a short embarrassing moment I exited stage left.

Fairly quiet supper that night - but I still smile as I think about how I heard them giggling about it in bed that night.

God rest their souls both lived until their 90's.

Grandad confided in me a few days before he died that the doctors saved his life and a double dose of Viagra (cleared by his doctor) saved their sex life.

I still smile when I think on that conversation.

They were good folks and I miss them.

The person you write about can and should hold their head up and be happy to still be around - never met (You?) the person you describe but I am dammed glad he (and you) are here too

People are far more important than they might realize - they can even touch complete strangers - and the alternative to surgery leaves big holes in people lives.

Was just generally curious. With all the press on TV, other news, etc., about breast cancer, the blue pill, std's, teenage hooking up, etc., thought would dare to start a thread on another little mentioned human condition. The good, bad, and the ugly so to speak. ;-)

I wasn't going to reply to this thread, but I believe you were sincere in wanting some opinions, so I am going to briefly relate my experience. I had radical prostate surgery in August of '07. The main reason for the surgery of course was to eliminate the cancer. That seems to have been 100% successful and I am very thankful for that. BUT, there have been complications that have not been fun to live with. I will only say that, no, I don't function even close to what I once did. I have tried nearly every method they have suggested, from the pills to pumps,etc. with little or no success. There is also urinary problems. I have had to learn to live with these problems. It is not always easy, but i have to play with the cards I asked to have dealt. I still enjoy life for the most part. Would I do it again? I honestly don't know. Touchy subject I know, but I just wanted to tell you my experience. Ron

well ive had ol timer's say after awhile they would about soon settle far a good bowl of turnip greens instead :lol2:

I go to you with the same comments as I wrote before - I would rather have you here on this board - even with the probs - than frigging dead - friends and family will always be friends and family - the rest can take a hike.

Since I have been here there have been two die that were regulars here and despite the odd argument, we had a reasonable on and off line relationship. Miss them both.

So - while it is not easy one never knows - we might and we might not sit and have a coffee someday - but if you had not done what you did you can almost be sure that it would NEVER happen.

I agree with Bez, while I don't need to know the details or heaven forbid walk in on my grandfather having a "moment" with his "friend" without the surgery he wouldn't be here today. His doctor was prepared to let my grandfather die because he was 75 & he'd had a good life & that he could get runover by a car before the cancer ever killed him. My grandfather got a 2nd opinion & that dr sent him straight though to a specialist, who than sent him on to another dr that was trying a new technique for taking the cancer out. I do also know that it was months before he stopped having problems, but it all takes time to heal & repair.
