If I had a TMR I'm sure I could go a higher grain ration. I've fed higher corn rations and felt like I was really pushing the boundaries in terms of the animals health. The 15-17 lbs of corn along with baleage (and corn stalks for bedding which they seem to eat about 2/3rds of) seems to work pretty closely to the higher grain ration.
Again, I'm feeding without antibiotics, ionosphores. I really like the baleage. I believe you asked in another thread. Not only is it nice to have the hay put up quickly and in good quality and has less waste when feeding, but I think it does a nice job finishing the animal.
