Is it realistic to expect one (1) bale of Timothy/Alfalfa to feed on cow per day.

Yep.it should easily.
I figure about 30lbs/day for each mature animal. Maybe a little more if it's cold/wet/windy nights.
 
Yeah, should get away with a lot less than that unless it's really miserable weather... My 20ish cows get about 10x80lb bales in the winter, give or take.. Most of my hay is alfalfa/Orchardgrass/Timothy
