I ran across a website for Irish Black cattle (http://www.irishblacks.com) from Boney&Gould in Colorado. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with them? If the cattle are half as good as their promotion, they must be absolutely fantastic and I'll just have to get me some.

I've seen it, too. Sounds almost too good to be true, but I guess that's true of most promotions. Says one of their bulls can service 70-75 cows, but doesn't say how long it would take him to do it. ;-) Hope somebody comes along that has first hand experience with them.

I have talked with Mr. Boney and have a tentative appointment with him to see his cattle. He is only about 30 miles from me, and when the snow in Colorado melts and it is possible to get out of your vehicle without climbing 10 foot drifts, I am going to visit his ranch. You can click on his web site and get a lot of information about them. The information therin provides fascinating reading!

They are a genetically closed herd since 1971.

Let us know what you find, Doc. The website is interesting reading, but it doesn't say how many they sell each year, who buys them, what kind of prices they get, etc. I'd be interested to know these things. Thanks.

Maurice Boney told me on the phone last night that they have never had the need to advertise because they can almost not keep up with the demand. He said that they have sold more than $500,000.00 worth of cattle so far this year! I am going to make an appointment with him after the First of April. Ten foot snow drifts might be reduced by then!
