Take a look at figure 2 depicting average rainfall for the state of Oklahoma. It dates back to pre 1900s and shows that the last 30 years is an anomaly in terms of amount of rainfall. Before 1980 the average rainfall for the previous 80 years was drastically less than what we have been experiencing. Average rainfall numbers are an average of the last 30 years rainfall. Since much of our precipitation comes from the gulf this could effect Texas and surrounding states as well.
