I decided to try immersion water heaters this year with all the snow and ice..... I will never use another water trough heater again.. They seem to be warmer than the trough heaters... They also seem to draw more amps so I added a breaker 5 amps higher so it doesn't trip

generally the breaker installed is sized to the wire in the circuit. installing a larger breaker in a circuit that is not meant to handle the higher current is not a good idea and is a danger of the wiring getting hot or causing a fire. do you know the watts of the heater you are using and the wire gauge?

It has 12/2 I believe that's acceptable.. it also literally has nothing else on it.. that's going to a plug in my calf shed.

#12 can be used for up to 30 amps for short distances, the longer the wire, the more resistance (creating heat), so the smaller the breaker needs to be. In general though, #12 is limited to 20 amps. If he's using a 110V heater, I don't think any of them are rated for over 1500 watts. Two that size on the same circuit though (he did say "heaters", ...plural) would max it out and probably blow a 20 amp breaker.

What size breaker did you put in? 12/2 is good for 20 amps.
single pole 1" 20 amp breaker

the plugs are maybe 10ft run from the panel one in back of the calf shed one inside.... They are isolated not on the same breaker... I use to run small heaters for sick animals and did not want a shared circuit... both are 20 amp now...
