I agree and disagree with some of the above statements.
The death spiral started under LBJ 50 years ago and has been gaining speed ever since.
The legislation of immorality has been waged and we have sat on the sidelines letting the few rule the many.
Legislation by the left by judges and congress has brought real progress to point of destruction of the country.
We have almost completely destroyed the family unit through social welfare programs.
We persecute the Christian or their values what this country was founded on while trying to serve the minority values.
This has led to our children not being safe in our own schools due to lack of family values and morals.
This war has been waged on multiple fronts fueled by special interest groups and the media.

Lets see the progress we have made.
Most of the kids graduating today versus 50 years ago even 30 years ago are illiterate due to our failing education system teaching propaganda.
As far as family values fathers day could be called mass confusion day. We have legalized murder of the most innocent segment of our society. I am not naive enough to not know we had sexual deviates since the being of time difference is we have elevated the behavior from unacceptable to acceptable. Just think about the good that has done for the children with abuse and child porn being easily accessible. This behavior a few years ago would make you wake up dead.
I have watched a complete transformation of this country in my lifetime in the wrong direction.
As far as the elected parties go I view them as two snakes the bite of one making you so sick you wish you could die the bit of the other being fatal. I have related the red party to bleeding and the blue to death.
I could go on and on to no eval as Americans we have sat idly by and watched the destruction of the greatest country ever.

There is a lot of truth in what you both said. The average American has given little thought to what has happened over the last 50 years with our government, media and politics. They were busy working and trying to raise their family. It was easier to leave it to the politicians.

Professional politicians. Someone who has applied all their energy and education to learning the art of politics. Professional politicians.

Think about a professional baseball player. He probably has played baseball since he was young, first able to throw a ball. People noticed their natural talent. The ones with the talent and drive, both in excess, make the pros.

We are governed by politicians who made it to the pros. Every move they make is calculated to gain advantage over their opponents. How much room is left for them to do what is best for the country and its citizens? And worse, they are completely focused (they think) on what is best for the country, as long as it aligns to THEIR politics.

I wonder how we might fare if common people, like us here, took a more active role.. I guess we should just watch the World Series of politics every four years on TV and leave it to the professional politicians.

We shouldn't blame the professional politicians for our problems. We should blame ourselves. We should own this.

I think I am liberal in regard to some of the social issues. But I do count myself as a Conservative. I focus on two prime roles of government at least at the federal level, National Defense and fiscal vigilance.

I'm confused, this one is still going and the other 2 where everyone was agreeing with each other and posting simple " thumbs up " and " good for them " got locked.

So I guess it's ok to post sarcastic threads about other people's getting locked, but it's not ok to be happy for someone or say nice things???
